Tangara Birding (tangarabirding.com) is an online marketplace platform that connects clients with independent professional birdwatching guides. Tangara Birding acts solely as a facilitator — it is not a travel agency, tour operator, or guide service.
By using our platform and making a booking, you enter into a direct service agreement with the independent guide. Tangara Birding collects payment on behalf of the guide and processes transfers after expedition completion.
The platform is owned and operated by Gustavo Dallaqua de Oliveira, an individual based in São Paulo, Brazil.
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your expedition. This deposit is processed securely via Stripe and is non-refundable except as described in Section 3.
The remaining 50% balance is due no later than 30 days before the expedition departure date. Failure to pay the balance by this deadline may result in cancellation of your booking without refund of the deposit.
All prices are quoted in US Dollars (USD). Your card issuer may apply conversion fees if your account is held in a different currency. Tangara Birding is not responsible for exchange rate fluctuations or bank fees.
Your booking is confirmed once the deposit payment is successfully processed and you receive a booking reference number (e.g. TB-XXXXXX). The guide will contact you within 24 hours to confirm logistical details.
If a guide cancels an expedition, the client will receive a full refund of all amounts paid, including the deposit. Tangara Birding will process the refund within 5 business days.
In the event of cancellation due to circumstances beyond reasonable control (natural disasters, government travel restrictions, extreme weather), Tangara Birding will work with the guide to offer the client a reschedule or credit. Refunds in force majeure cases are at the discretion of the guide and Tangara Birding.

Tangara Birding does not verify the credentials, insurance, or licenses of individual guides. Clients are encouraged to communicate directly with guides before booking.
By booking an expedition through Tangara Birding, you agree to:
Birdwatching expeditions take place in natural, remote, and sometimes challenging environments. You acknowledge that participation in these activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
You voluntarily assume all such risks and agree that neither Tangara Birding nor the guide shall be held liable for any injury, illness, death, loss, or damage arising from participation in the expedition, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
You are strongly advised to consult a travel medicine specialist before any tropical expedition and to carry appropriate medications and personal protective equipment.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tangara Birding's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the platform or participation in an expedition shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific booking giving rise to the claim.
Tangara Birding is not liable for: acts or omissions of independent guides; cancellations due to force majeure; loss of personal belongings during expeditions; travel delays or disruptions; or failure to observe specific bird species.
We collect and process personal data necessary to facilitate your booking and communicate with you and your guide. Your data is stored securely and never sold to third parties.
By making a booking, you consent to your contact information being shared with the guide assigned to your expedition, solely for the purpose of delivering the service.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Brazil. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of São Paulo, Brazil.
For clients in the European Union, mandatory consumer protection rights under EU law are not affected by this choice of law clause.
